Altadena's Masonic Lodge

Inscribed "Altadena Masons"
The Masonic Lodge which today serves as a private school is located on the south side of Mendocino just east of Lake.  We don't know much about the building's history in between the time it was built in 1938 (per the Altadena Press article below) and now.

The architect's sketch in 1937.

The building today.
If you know anything about the history of the Masons in Altadena, please let us know.

  1. Dr. Samuel Chockley Watson was Worshipful Master of Altadena's Lodge 678 in 1951. Watson was a Dr. of chiropractic medicine in Pasadena from 1933 until 1967. Starting in the 1950's, he also became a liscensed bus driver for Embree Transportation and retired from that in about 1978. His wife, Jean (Eugenia Vesta Theile), and daughter, Lynda, were also active in the Masonic life. Samuel's son Frederick, moved to Port Townsend, Washington, where the son passed in 1981. Both parents had moved there about that time with Jean passing in 1984 and Samuel in 1994.
